I just got my MV5100 1TB NAS and I fired it up and it would hp control center would never find it so I looked up the lease in the dhcp table and then connected to it through the web. I gave it a static ip and still didn't find it so I just configured everything through the web but my concern is, it came preconfigured with shares and directories I cannot edit/remove those nor can I setup mirrroring. I want the drive mirrored on the second. How do I do this? I obviously can't do it through the web access, do I have to get the control center working somehow, it always says "no hp media vaults were detected on your network" but its there alright, I've tried connected straight to my laptop and to my switch, with same results.

Welcome to the forums.

Page 126 of the MediaVault User Manual talks about setting up mirrors. I'm guessing you have a client firewall blocking access to the MediaVault, so make sure those are all disabled. You can also try a hosts file entry on your PC.

Moving to the MediaVault forum.

Thanks, I disabled the firewall too but I'll try a host record but what would I need the hostname to be?

I'll check that out in the manual, I didn't have access to it you'd think it would have been copied to the pc or on the cd, maybe it is. Thanks

Does the hostname show up in the router DHCP lease table?
