Has anyone considered this unit? I wonder if the "software" for that unit might be used on the MediaSmartServer? I like my HP MSS, but I'm generally unimpressed by its software.

Comments? Ideas?

I'd personally never consider a Linux-based NAS again. I've just been burned in the past by lackluster Linux NAS solutions that required things like registry hacks to work with Windows Vista NTLM 2 authentication.

Windows Home Server I think will be a phenominal OS once they work the kinks out. Beyond the very simple console interface and great features you get out of the box, you have great extensibility through add-ins and also the capability to do things like install SQL Server on it after remoting in (which is valuable if you want to do things like software development).

I have both the mediasmart server and Mediavault 2120 they both are great products, but the mediavault is easy to use than mediasmart server because hp did great job on the frontend software that controls the mediavault. the only con i see MV2120 is the mediasmart server had a drive image backup and MV2120 has files only backup
