Hey kashflow, would be glad to offer advise, but, really need some more info. What is it that is doing this? Is it a laptop/desktop/server/tablet or have you put win8 on one of the media servers?
Bluescreens can be brought on by many things, bad or uncompilable memory, a driver that is not quite right right up to a virus.
Trouble shooting stays the same:
1) Was it working before?
2) What has changed? If you put it back is it ok?
3) Have you rebooted (power all the way down, wait, boot up.
4) Is it overheating?
5) Was water or dropping involved #-o Just kidding...
Shout out some more info, you have come to an awesome place to get help, lots of great smart people around here to help.

Well, this place is mostly for Windows home server related stuff, but a computer is a computer mostly.
I can only suggest a few things to try, not knowing what HP laptop you have and what is loaded on it.
1) Do you know about safemode? When you push the power button to fire up your laptop, start tapping slowley (press and release and press and release) the F8 key and see if you can get it to the menu where it offers safe mode and select that. If it doesn't bluescreen in safe mode, then you have ruled out hardware, if it still bluescreens the you are looking at bad memory most likely.
2) Call HP support or jump over the the HP forums.
3) Do you know how to Restore your PC back to factory and what would you lose if you did? Some PC's come with some recovery CD's some PC's have a recovery partition that you can activate by pressing Cntrl+f11 or something like that to get to the recovery mode.

If you have restored it to factory and it is still blue screening the it is hardware for sure.

Sorry, can't offer to much more, if you can get in safe mode you might try scanning with something like Malwarebytes to see if it's a bug.
Goodluck

Now if I'm missing something here and this has something to do with windows home server please let me know.
