Received my cable a few days ago but only had time to actually test it today. Very well made cable and exactly what I was expecting.

My aim was to install the cabe permanently and only use it for emergencies or BIOS tweaks. I don't intend to repeatedy connect it up.

The difficulty for me was figuring out how to route the cable and get it all back together so it didn't look as though you had a cable. I have posted a few pics of the route I take which is pretty much as the original poster indicated in his pictures. Also I was very careful in loading the mobo PSU unit back into the chassis to prevent the fragile wires chaffing or pulling. This way also avoids feeding through the riser board as well.

The final resting place is the spare (very tight fit) space next to the fans and below the lid. The lid fits nicely and you wouldn't know.

Thanks for an excellent service Charles.

Regards
Rip.

Is any one willing to sell me their cable, since Charles is on a break, and I don't feel too confident making my own cable?

Also, is anyone in SoCal willing to sell or let me borrow their cable?

How soon will the new board be for sale, and do you have a cost?

The Gen2 assembly has been released. Check it out here. Thanks to everyone who waited patiently. Please address all Gen2 assembly issues in the Gen2 posting.

How would I choose a VGA cable between my computer and my LCD projector? Some stores offer just one standard VGA cable. Some offer VGA cable with different resolutions (SVGA, SXGA, ..etc.). Are the ones associated with resolution really necessary?

Do the Gen1 VGA cables work with the header on the EX485's?

Yes, the header is the same on both the EX48x and EX47x servers.

Does anyone know if Radio Shack would carry the crimp on thingy's in these cables (for lack of a more technical term). I was an idiot and broke a couple of the wires off when trying to remove it and would really like to get it working again as my MSS is now not booting and I would like to try to recover it without having to reload everything.

This one looks promising. I did not find any good crimp tools at Radio Shack. I'm not sure where you live, buy Fry's Electronics (if one exists locally) is usually a good place too.

If all else fails, you can send it to me and I can do it too. Email or message me and we can work something out.
