Over the years it served me well
Upgraded the cpu installed a debug board.
Replaced the PSU
Filled it with 2TB wd Reds

But the last blip on power from a lightning storm caused the ex490 to power off and will not power up again.

So I decided to give up the ghost and retire/dispose of the ex490

I can't see paying 75 dollars for a new PSU again when my new system is fine.
Which is a readynas RN316
It stores my media and client backups fine and creates a redundant backup to a mediasonic probox enclosure with no 2tb limit per drive and supports gigabit and USB 3

So I came to a conclusion to take down the ex490.

I do not have any use at all for it nor will I in the future.
As far as I know the unit is fine except for the PSU
It has the vga debug installed and the three factory CD's

I may part it out but I would rather not deal with selling parts which may take forever.
I would rather just get rid of it in one piece one sale.
So it will go to the dump in a couple weeks If nobody wants it

Ruben,
Thats some bad news.

I had a PSU issue a while back too. The path of least resistance for me was to just swap in a PSU from a spare 490 I picked up off ebay unit a while back. But yes, I ultimately bit the bullet on a KDM unit.

I had just replaced the psu maybe 13 months ago

I just can't justify the price of another PSU when I don't need or use it anymore.
Now last month I did buy the 8 bay mediasonic probox to replace my 5 bay Towerraid TR5M-B for extended drives for the ex490 .

The towerraid only supports 2tb drives and it is 5 bay. Now I have no use for the towerraid.

So I already had the nas and now the probox .
So the nas was simple to migrate the few files from the ex490 .
I already was using the readynas for client backup storage using easeus.
And now the probox with be a redundant backup from the nas.Which is stuffed from mostly used drives in the ex490 and towerraid.

Which is 22TB of storage on the nas

And I save 75 bucks on a new psu for the exx490

I am not sure what to do with this old equipment not needed anymore.
Ex490 with Q9450s CPU all the cd's one wdblack black 2TB drive
VGA/PS2 Keyboard/PS2 Mouse/Serial debug board
Popcorn C-200
Popcorn A-200
Dune HD Connect
couple of rasberry PI units

I don't want to deal with ebay to sell .I had a hold put on my account because somebody hacked my account and purchased over $5000.00 of various items .
Ultimately it was resolved with no cost to me. But it took many months to get it done.

So maybe I will try the marketplace here at this site.

Wow, it's kinda crappy that your new PSU only lasted a year. It was a KDM?

Okay I am trashing my ex490 including the drive caddies and cd's.
Including vga debug board and cable.
Last call for parts.
The whole unit will be cost of shipping only

I think all it needs to run is a new psu but I have no need for the unit anymore

I am tempted to trash it today but I will wait another day or two.

How sad. I replaced the power supply on my 470 in January 2022. I bought one of these and had to do a little wiring.

I have to say the upcharge for a plug and play MSS PSU these days is a bit excessive.

Unfortunately, the cost of shipping exceeds the value of that old unit. I am sorry to see it go.

Mine is still functioning. I use it just for backups.
