I have successfully installed the PHP and MySQL add-ins. The PHP add-in however is based on version 5.2.6. In order for my script to run, I need at least version 5.2.9 How do I go about in upgrading to a higher version?
Appreciate yr guidance.

I read in another thread, that you have to update manually. The add-in is only to make things easier to install from the console. It give you no options of nice buttons at all. PHP is running "behind" the console, just as it should.
Mainly all you have to do is to overwrite you PHP folder with the new one. (remember to backup your php.ini). But take a look at www.php.net there is a faq telling you exacly what to do.

Is there a way to upgrade the PHP to a newer version?
5.4, 5.6 would be awesome.
I use the good ol' Mediasmart as a testing server for wordpress websites, works great, but some newer plugins break with old 5.2.
Newer MySQL would be great too, but it still handles most of the WP stuff.
Thanks

I'm not a php person, but as "Kandersen" has said, manually things can be done with these servers.

They are showing their age and even though the addin's are not being updated, what you have to look at is the system is running win 2003 server which is 32 bit OS.
If something can run on this OS then just remoting in and doing what you need to do still works in most cases.

There used to be a addin for serviio which does not work anymore, but serviio still works great! I just have to remote in , update Java and install the application manually.

I have heard that a version of php that was rolled out would break things, so a backup is always a good thing, just in case.

Good luck
