Really like it kramttocs. One thing I would find really awesome would be a transparency/opacity setting. It stands a bit out at the moment. I haven't been coding Windows gadgets so I don't know how difficult this is to implement.

Glad to hear it, schliemann! Like I mentioned before, it's hard to guarantee the new releases since I can only test against my own server so it's good to get feedback. For the transparency, if you right click on the gadget you can set the opacity to some predefined settings (this works for all gadgets). Is that what you are looking for or something else?

Hey, no problem. Was that what you were wanting? Yep, now you can make it as ugly or pretty as you want :) If you happen to find a good set of colors, I will be glad to add them.

I have one question. For the hard drives I can click it and get the hard drive tab to pop up. This only works for my Disk 0 however. Not for Disk 1, 2 or 3. Is there something wrong with my setup? Might be WHS related or the way it partition the drives.

Are these normal HDD's?
It's probably not your setup but just that the drives may not have the information the gadget is looking for, so rather than leaving that piece of information blank (like I will make a note to do) it just doesn't show it [the flyout]. I will send you a PM to get some information from you.

The gadget works fine with my EX490 and 5 drive Storbox when nothing else gets the Smart data. If you have Disk Sentinel installed on the WHS the gadget will provide an excellent monitoring facility on your client of the server. I have tried all the WHS monitoring software and nothing provides the info like Disk Sentinel.

What does your RAM bar say, erail? The strange thing is that mine says that I have a total of 5120 MB RAM. I only have 4096 however. It seems to be a problem with HD Sentinel since I get the same wrong number via http://server:port/.

No, mine says 4086 mb with 1911mb used, so it's fine

You are very welcome. I owe it to you for bringing it back to life :)

Odd about the RAM issue, I would recommend posting something on the hdsentinel forum. The moderator is great at responding quickly.

I can confirm that the RAM issue is a WHS v1 problem. Have just changed to WHS 2011 and now the RAM is displayed correctly.

Hi, I'm having trouble getting the gadget to work. HD Sentinel works fine on my WHS2011 server (8 drives) however the gadget doesn't seem to be able to connect despite following the instructions on this thread. I'm using the latest version of the gadget (1.2) and I've tried two different ports 61220/61221 and tried with/without passwords at both ends. The gadget seems to lock up for periods so that even trying to open or update the settings takes about 30 secs (even to change one character in the settings window) as does drawing the window in the first place.

Is there any additional information I can provide to resolve this as it looks a useful utility?

Simon

Hey Simon,
If you open a browser and go to [url:port]/xml do you get prompted for a password (if enabled) and then see an xml document?

ex. myhomeserver.com:61220/xml

As for the locking up, yeah, admittedly the gadget isn't really optimized therefore it locks up until it either connects or in your case, fails to connect.
