Hi all,

hopefully you guys will be able to guide me in the right direction.

I have just got a DAS501T which i placed a single 1TB drive into, and hooked up to my EX490. I rebooted the EX490 however once booted the WHS hasnt recognised the DAS. Im not sure if i need to download the lastest drivers for the SATA controller, if i do im not sure which i need as the website is a bit confusing?

I didnt have a enough time to put the card into my PC which will be the next step...

Hi there,

I know it's an old post, but I'm thinking of getting the same model and wondered how you were getting on with yours? What Raid software did you need to install? I'm planning on using it for extra storage and as a database backup so I'd be very interested to know how yours is working.....

Thanks in advance. Kind regards.

I looked at one of those units and the similarity between the Sans Digital TR5m or the Rosewill version is just way to close. I am curious if you can read the backplane board number which should be located in the upper left corner of the backplane board and see if its marked CFI-Bxx53PM and if so then its actually made by CFI and should work normally as a JBOD enclosure however in the event there are dip switches on the back of the enclosure which I doubt but if there are I would configure them for JBOD.

Oh yea sometimes these Port Multipliers will not show up if you connect them to a running server right away but if you make the connection with the server offline then turn it on after connecting the eSATA Cable it will show up. Just make certain the eSATA cable is firmly in place and while I wish they would lock into place they do not and so if you ever move the enclosure keep in mind the eSATA cable can easily slide out.

Hi chaps,

i had to install the software that came with the device, works flawlessly and will work as a JBOD or Raid, however i plan on using it for extra storage when the time comes, as currently i dont need the space so its turned off. However when i get my media centre running again the recorded TV will backup again to the MSS so my space will shrink again.

If i can remember when i get the chance i will see if i can see the number, but from other reviews iirc its a CFi build.
