That article explains stuff pretty well. It talks about n-channel mosfets though, so I'll have to reverse some leads when metering

When it comes to modern electronics it's hard to diagnose the problem with only a visual inspection. Problem is that many times a chip burns out internally without any smell or burn marks on the surface. When a chip burns out visibly, there's a good chance you'll fix the problem by replacing it -- but it's not a sure-fire way.

I bought a small SMT soldering practice kit a while ago to test my skillz. My hand is steady enough to do it.. it may not look like a professional job, but it works. Also, I recently ordered a hot air rework station - after I practice a bit on old broken electronics, it should make things even easier.
Neat! I nearly bought one of these myself last time around but I found a shop that did the work for much less than cost of the rework station.

Good Luck with fixing your board!

I got it repaired

Change the transistor burned a new one, and now all lights are lit.

What joy!

Fry-kun and Comp1962, thanks for your help.

This community is fantastic :mss:

Good job! As I mentioned before, I have a motherboard that is similarly afflicted. I've sold most of the parts but still have the MB if you're interested in it to play with.

Also there are 5 fuses on the motherboard that you should check just incase one of them was taken out. I was looking at them last night on an EX470 Motherboard

Interesting. Could you tell me where these fuses are located? I have a board that won't start up...l

As I recall the fuses are located on the left side of the EX47x Motherboard in the attached picture and are marked F1 ~ F5. You can clearly see F1 and F5 in the picture.

Hmm.. I can see the markings, but which part is the fuse?

EDIT: think i figured it out... the ones marked P 110 and P200 right? can i see if they are blown or would i have to measure?

The fuses are marked with a P on top of a number in the TAN Area. Also next to the fuse it will be marked F1 for Fuse 1 through F5 for Fuse 5.
