I know this is a really old thread now, but I'd be really grateful if someone can point me in the right direction for downloading of the recovery disc. I've got a customer desperate for them and HP have failed to respond to any emails. Cheers

Your best bet is to actually call HP Customer Support to see if you can acquire a set of recovery disks. Now there are mixed messages from others as if you can still get the disks or not. Some indicate they were able to get the disks and others not so successful.

There are two versions of the disks and your most likely to be successful if you request the original disks that shipped with the EX470. Its highly unlikely you will ever get a set of the 3.x set of disks but I find the original 1.x set to run smoother on the EX470 anyway.

I've tried contact HP support and am unable to get the disks because it is a discontinued product. Can anyone nudge me in the direction of where I can find a recovery disk. Tried Bittorrent but there aren't any seeds now.

Where are you located? Maybe someone close by you might be willing to help you out.

EX485 Server recovery disc?

Likewise to the above mentioned post....I just spent 2 hours going through every disc, manual, etc. that I have in my office and cannot find the Server Recovery Disc for me EX485. Would anyone be willing to help me out with either the iso file or point me in the correct direction?

Thanks,

Anthony

I know this is an old POST. Today, I called HP to find out if I can purchase a set of Recovery DVDs for the MSS Ex470 server. Like most of everyone that replied in on this POST, I can't find recovery DVDs for this particular model. I purchased this EX470 server on Ebay without any DVDs. Bad mistake. I am not sure what I can do with this "brick" model if I can't find the Recovery Dvds. Resell it on Ebay?

Also, HP told me that I can't use 485 DVDs on an EX470 model. I am going to try to use the EX485 dvds on this EX470 model to see what happens.

Most of us have 1 or 2 Mediasmart servers in our homes. Since the Mediasmart server is dead, End Of Life, which you can't buy any DVDs for the older models, I think we all should "share" our Recovery DVDs to help each other out.

Just like everyone else asked, does anyone have a set of EX470 recovery DVDs? I will buy them and I will pay for shipping.

It's not legal to electronically share an ISO of the Recovery DVDs due to Microsoft's licensing terms, which is why you don't see it available for download. I've heard there are copies available on torrent sites. The EX48x recovery disk won't work on the EX47x servers, there different drivers and licensing keys.

Could I kindly ask for someone to PM me a link to the EX470 v3 server recovery disk ISO as well?

I just tried to re-image my 470 from Ubuntu/Amahi back to WHS prior to selling it. That's when I discovered that my 3.0 Server Recovery disk was scratched beyond use or recovery :(

Help very much appreciated.

PS: There will be a ViV technology VGA/Mouse/Keyboard/Serial adapter available once I'm done my 470. It was a great help in getting Linux working on this server.

as mentioned above, any help in getting the ex475 recovery disc would be much appreciated. does HP really care about "loaning" copies of these discs for a product which is obsolete by theri own standards? Anyone in Northern NJ with a copy would be an asset. thx.

I see mixed messages about HP issuing disks and then not issuing disks and it may have to do with where the person writing the post is from but I have no clue.

You can get the HP mediasmart "Server Recovery Disc Version 3.0 upgrade with patch 1" disc by searching for “HP.EX470.PC.RESTORE.DISK-2010-iLL.iso”, download it from one of the torrent sites and burn the iso to a DVD.

Although the file is named ****PC.RESTORE****.iso it is actually the EX470 Server Recovery Disc needed to upgrade to version 3.

Or you can search for “HP.EX470.SERVER.RECOVERY.DISK-2010”, which turns out to be a folder containing the same iso.

I burned the iso to a DVD and successfully used it to upgrade my ex470 to 3.0

I am also looking for one. I've tried to download a torrent but there are not enough seeds for the entire download. Either that or a tutorial on how to perform an unatended install of WHS power pack 3 via a USB drive...
