I would like to benchmark test the WHS. My main use for the system will be backups and storing access database files.

I was wondering if anyone knows a program to test transfer rates and read right speeds for small and large files. Im mainly concerned with the speed of reading the access database.

I would like to test the speed of my current computer to computer setup vs computer to WHS setup.

I would also like to test the WHS after i upgrade the ram to 2gb.

There have been network tests performed by SmallNetBuilder, I believe I have those linked in the General forum. TomsHardware (or TomsNetworking) has some tools they use for all the equipment they review. I've personally used Iometer.

iv herd of this small glitch. But it should not effect the access database. I need this file to be accessible by all on the network.

I want to compare the speed of this new setup vs my old one.

I tested the WHS vs computer to computer.
To load report from access took 20 seconds computer to computer.
same report from WHS took 25 seconds.

I have 2 500gb hard drives installed. I have folder duplication turned on. and 874gb free space.

I just ordered 2gb of ram i hope this speeds it up to as fast or faster then computer to computer.

If you know any other speed tests i could run to show me witch setup is fast i will try them. i found Iozone but im not sure how to run it.

Is there other setting i could play with?

I guess the question I have is whether having your data redundantly protected by WHS is worth 5 seconds of wait time while you load the report...

This presumes of course that your other computer doesn't have any form of RAID or backup...
