Hi everyone - This is a great site and everyone is so cooperative.

I apologize if I missed the post - I tried all of the search phrases I could think of.

My EX470 will be arriving in a few days, and my WHS RC1 license will expire about 10 days later. The WHS server is running on a single drive which is approaching the end of its life. I have received several messages from the WSH warning me to 'repair' the drive so I would like to move the data off of the drive before it might experiance a permanent failure..

Is there a way to move / transfer / copy all of the backup files on the WHS server to the new EX470. There are files that are only on the WHS server.

Thanks very much for your advice and suggestions.

Hank

if it's the client backup files, I wouldn't even bother trying. each client and server are joined uniquely, so it's unlikely you'd be able to use the backups from your old server. plus the backup code likely changed between releases. your clients will all backup the first night or two with the new server.

for data on your old shares, just RDP onto new server, mount old server network shares and copy files.

good luck, welcome to the forum, and let us know how you like the MSS when it arrives!

Makes sense.

Thanks for the quick response and advice Yakuza.

I'm really looking forward to MSS not just for backup but also for the remote access to shares. Much safer than carrying thumb drives - even if they are encrypted you can still loose them.
