Something like this it will look like.
I have to drill and tape a hole in the heatsink to mount the fan.

The fan will blow over the cpu heatsink and the northbridge heatsink.

Good job on finding small enough to fit into that space! Trying to figue out how to avoid having to tap the heatsink and spoil your warranty.

You need a spacer to keep the fan vertical as there is a 3/8 inch lip on the bottom of the heat sink. Plumbing supplies has rubber grommets that size.

I found that a pan headed screw 11/64 inch wide by 1 1/2 inch long will wedge itself between the blades of the heatsink.

Another way would be to use a strip of high stick velcro trimmed to fit just the bottom of the heatsink and stuck to the bottom of the fan.

Third way is to wedge it in place with some soft, non conductive material, wood or foam.

Another way would be to build an L bracket so that the fan is attached only to the top of the PSU.

Let's see. a long piece of threaded rod. Bent into a J at one end. It extends through the whole heatsink and the end goes through the fan holes and is attached by a nut. A spring from a pen to hold it in place.

How about long wire ties that go around the end of the heatsink and through the holes in the fan?

Wire (insulated of course) the does the same as the wire ties. Just wrap it around the other end of the heatsink and twist in place. You could notch the far side of the heatsink with a file to keep the wire from sliding up and down.

I will think of some more, I'm sure..

Today i fabricated a small bracket for mounting the "cpu fan", not perfect in any way but it will show me if it´s worth to go on...

After 2 hours i noticed the idle temp had droped with 2 degrees.
I think I will make this "mod" permanent when I start work again, I will tap two holes in the heatsink and do some flat lappning on the heatsink to remove the anodized surface on the spot that has contact with the cpu (Maybe it will make the temp drop even more)

Looks good Bullhead. I think that it is a good permanent solution. If you tap into the heatsink, you will lose some of the fan's air movement. As long as the the fan stays put where it is, you are golden.

See if you can wedge a piece of foam underneath, that will channel more air across the heatsink and help the fan stay in place. Just checked, no hot components next to the caps on the mobo. Put a piece of foam between the caps and the top to funnel the air more.

If the foam does not change the temp lower, just remove it. Use a plastic pen top cut to the right size instead to hold the fan in place (or something, I was just looking around for a quick and dirty solution)
