Hey guys,

I wanted to upgrade the RAM for my ex47 and after my research,
I bought a 4GB DDR2-667MHz PC2-5300 240PIN PC5300 For AMD CPU Desktop Dimm Memory from eBay.

When I put in my server, all lights went red and never booted, the previous 2GB works just fine.

Am I using the wrong RAM or the stick faulty?
more detail:
Type: 240-Pin DDR2 DIMM
Capacity: 4GB
Speed: DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300)
Timings: CL5/CL6
Voltage: 1.8V
Buffering/Ecc: Non-ECC Unbuffered

I looked at the forums, everything I could gather pointed that I bought the correct model, but I just wanted to double check with ya =)

p.s. I'm using the X2 upgraded bios and CPU

The RAM Specs look good so the issue could very well be with the stick or possibly with it not being seated properly. If there is a manufacturers sticker still on the RAM I would check the specs using that number not so much with what the seller posted on eBay.

I also looked at the specs for the original RAM which HP installed and the timing on it was CL5 so the specs you posted look good but confirm the specs off the tag if its present to make sure.

If you have another computer that uses the same memory you could test it there just to make certain the RAM is good or bad but even BAD RAM will function to a point then show its ugly face and if its really bad then you will not be able to boot the system or in some cases not even get to the BIOS.

If the RAM is bad and your stuck with it then try sending it back to the manufacturer as most if not all RAM comes with a lifetime warranty. I will also mention that if the RAM is Kinston Value RAM its hit or miss and not worth the packaging its shipped in. I can't begin to tell you how many issues I have run into with computer repairs which all stemmed from that type of RAM.
