Hi there
I own an EX-475 that I have upgraded to 2Gb RAM. I wish to install Windows Server 2008. To do this I had purchased the box to connect Video, Mouse and Keyboard. I have prepared a bootable usb following the instructions of Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool from http://www.microsoftstore.com.
It seems that the BIOS of the Storage recognizes the Philips usb key (as shown in the Image 1)

But when I try to boot the Storage it doesn’t read the USB key and starts with screen like Image 2 then Image 3 comes and never ends.

What is wrong in my job ?

Please, anybody cuold help me ?
Thank you to all.
:whs:

The Flash Drive has to be made bootable for it to work. Also it should be connected to the bottom rear USB Port. What your currently seeing on your EX470 is the server not finding a bootable drive and when that occurs it will boot off its hidden USB SMI on the motherboard which places the server into its recovery mode.

Hi Comp1962,
scuse me for the late answer, but I have been out of Italy. Thanks for the valuable information ! now I can boot from USB key. Great ! :chicken:
But I have another problem. After a few minutes, the installation stops with the message you can see attached.
To what driver does it refer ?
Could you help me again ?
Thank you in advance. :D

I have never played with Server 2008 but looking at your picture you either have no drive in the bottom bay or possibly there is an issue with the drive. WHS2011 is based on Server 2008 and I have been able to install WHS2011 without the need for drivers then Server 2008 should have no difficulty either.

Can you check the BIOS and see if its seeing the hard drive also make sure the hard drive is listed in the boot order. I would also recommend the drive be a clean drive with no previous OS installations on it just to keep your install clean as well..

Hi Comp1962,
Here I am. I found a solution. :D
After done all the checks you suggested the error was still present. Then I did some research on the web and I found a solution that I would like to share with other members that they were in my situation. :-k
1 I found a CD of WHS 2011 with which I created the USB stick
2 I took the disk on which I need to load WHS and I replaced the hard disk of another PC.
3 Then I started the installation of WHS 2011 that I left to proceed until first boot requested from the installation, during which I turned off the pc.
4 Then I moved the disc in the tray and put it in the HP storage.
5. I modified the BIOS boot priority of the EX-470 putting the hard disk first and the usb key second
6 I connected to the bottom rear USB port the key containing WHS 2011
7 I turned on the HP storage and completed the installation.
Now it works perfectly.
Thanks for the support !
