My GP drives run at 38 C and my seagates run at 43 C while balancing. A lot will depend on ambient temperature but you will normally see a 5-7 degree C difference in WD and Seagate.

My WD is currently at 29C and my Seagate drives are both at 36C. System is at 30C and CPU at 26C. Fans at 50% speed.

These are different from earlier reports I have posted on the subject as I have the F-Secure Virus and Spy Protection running in real-time mode. This tends to load the CPU to 50%+ about half the time (as well as utilizing the disks). At the moment I read the temperatures F-Secure was not active and the MSS was (slowly) cooling down. (This constant cycling of F-Secure is evidently a problem. I am collecting data on it for the F-Secure team.)

Without F-Secure the drives run about 5C cooler.

How are you guys seeing the temperatures of the drives in the MSS?
When I look at the Hardware Stats page all I see is system & CPU temps.
Am I missing something here?

The main model number for the 1TB Drive most of us are using is . . .

You mentioned that the temps can be viewed with the Drive Labler Add-in 1.00.5.
I have that add-in but Im not sure exactly where to go...I looked under the tab SERVER SOTRAGE where it shows the bay # etc but no temps

The EXACT  model number is WD1000FYPS-01ZKB0.
Hereis a refrence to the model number on Western Digitals site

You need to be on the tab called Disk Management. There is a column called Temp. If you see n/a then there is a cog on the RHS of the screen to 'enable real time temperature and performance monitoring'

I believe that the disk temperatures come to us through the latest version of the DISK MANAGEMENT Add-In. Disk Labeler expands on the information in the Server Storage tab -- but does not add any temperature data.
