Post subject:  1 GB Ram -> 2 GB Ram. Big Improvement?

Hello,

Back when the Ex470 first came out I upgraded my ram to 1 GB since the 512 way just way to little. I am now considering going from 1 GB to 2 GB. Has anyone gone from 1 to 2 and noticed a big difference?

Thanks!

-Steve

It all depends on how much physical memory your system uses. If it uses more than you actually have installed, then an upgrade makes sense. However, if you do not use all your memory currently, then you can increase as much as you like, the speed improvement will be minimal at best.

I have 2GB but only use a little more than 740MB. When I upgraded I opted for the 2GB because with rebate it was only $2 more expensive than the 1 GB and actually cheaper if you factor in the free shipping which I also got.

I went to 2GB for same reason. Generally I see 740MB in use, but I have seen it peak at about 890. Unless there is a major price difference I would go with 2GB. If you have a spare 1GB stick lying around then I'd use it and wait until that is exceeded -- at which time 2GB will be cheaper and 4GB may even be available!
