Just a quick one

I have 4 Hard drives in my EX470 and when i set 1 drive to backup the light for that drive chages to red but in the healthstatus everthing else is fine is there a problem?

Humm, Are you saying that the existing drive is removed and added back as a backup drive?
Not the best way to go for a backup.

Or are you hot swapping a pool drive with a backup drive. Still not cool.

ok just noticed its not red its purple...

also to answer your question i added it as a new drive and set it up as a backup drive

Purple means a drive is installed but not part of the storage pool, so what you are seeing is expected behavior.
