Hello,

I have spent the past several days working on getting my EX470 back up and running. It kept overheating and also crashing my home network. I initially thought it was the PSU but that was not the problem after much trouble shooting and finally getting the 470 back up and running from a recovery I discovered that lower case fan in the back of the unit was not working properly. It is spinning at 575 RPM vs the other fan which is runnning at 1275 RPM. I swapped the position of the fans in order to keep the unit running by keeping the temps down. My question is does anyone know of a replacement fan? I went to my local computer shop today and they had nothing that would accomodate a four pin setup, all of their 80MM fans are three pin. I am running V3 with an upgraded CPU and RAM. I do not have the fan speed add in, would that help my situation?

Thanks,
Scott

I actually have 4 working EX470 fans which I removed from enclosures I converted to become MSS Port Multipliers. Anyway if you are in the USA and want one send me a PM and I will be happy to help you out.

I am not in the US, but I do have a postal outlet that I use. But I am happy to just replace both my fans. Any idea of a part number, or where online to get them?

Thanks,

Dave

I believe the fans in the EX470 are similar to those used with CPU cooling fans. They are 4 wire so the fans have a speed sensor to provide feedback.

This link below shows a pic of the actual fans in an EX470 with the Manufacturer Info to help you find a suitable replacement. Fans are cheap and abundanty available from most suppliers regardless of your location.
