Post subject:  EX47x CPU parse from "Saw a EX470 Post with a AMD X2" thread

Well, over the past couple days I've parsed that entire 97 page monster that Maliclipse started and Ymboc and others ran with to make an enormously inciteful and helpful thread. Seriously, Ymboc should have his own Forum Tag. Anyway, I was looking for different processors tested in the EX47x series and as it is a frequent topic for discussion I thought while I was reviewing it, I'd gather the data out and post it here. Aside from the self-flagellation of reading all 97 pages, credit goes to Ymboc and those that came before i.e., VieuxJules. I take no credit for any of this. Here you go, a list of known good/bad and some unknowns:

Stable:

-Sempron 3400+ Manila SDD3400IAA3CN 1.8GHz @ 35W & 90nm F2 Core Stepping (Stock)

-Athlon X2 3600+ Brisbane ADD3600IAA5DO 1.9GHz @ 35W & 65nm g2 Core Stepping (I'd expect this one would work and perform close to the 3800+ remains untested however)

AM3 CPU's interoperability this AM2 socket? (I know AM2+ was supposed to be the bridge)

-Athlon II X2 260u C2 1.8 GHz 2x 1 MB 2 GHz 9x 0.85 - 1.15 25 W AM3 AD260USCK23GQ - Won't post

Notes:

* - vcore @ 1.25V
** - May be stable as per erail with a TIM cleanup on the Northbridge? Fans need to be @ 100% - The Athlon X2 4050e replaced model BE-2350 (ADH2350IAA5DO)
*** - The Athlon X2 4450e replaced model BE-2400 (ADH2400IAA5DO)
**** - There seems to be two separate BE-2400 parts, a G1 and G2 stepping. both @ 45 W However, the G1 stepping has a vcore @ 1.15V vs the G2 stepping with 1.25vcore I have to go back and see if ymboc was able to note the part number of his initial BE-2400 tests
***** - BIOS recognized with AGESACPU from M601B_19 unknown success
****** - Single core Neo's (Lima)
******* - Cool & Quiet issue? Fixed with CrystalCPUID

Thanks for condensing the post.

Any idea where one could find either the Athlon Neo X2 6650e ADD6650IAA5DO or Athlon Neo X2 6850e ADJ6850IAA5DO? I've tried eBay with no luck.

well. a full decade after this thread was posted, here i am wondering if anyone got anywhere with these cpus. i have an athlon ii x2 220 on hand, which i was certainly able to install in my ex475, but the machine did not post. i'm wondering if it'd be any more likely to if i were to flash a modded bios, and if so what a good choice of donor board to pull the agesacpu and acpitbl modules from might be. there's a whole assortment of agesacpu versions available at www bios-mods dotcom /resources/index.php?dir=Option+Roms%2FAMD+Agesa%2F (can't post a link lol) but i can't say i have a clue how i might select one. is anyone familiar with cpu upgrades on these machines still around?

yeah, i know it's a long shot, but i may as well post and ask since the forum is still here! and i sure am glad it is, these are great little machines!

well i did some more research and put together a bios with the shuttle acpitbl and an agesacpu version that supports the athlon ii (3.1.9.0) aaand... the results are completely unsurprising, yet somehow still disappointing. no post, just the same as before i flashed the modded bios. it still runs fine with the stock sempron. looks like i'll be picking up one of the cpus known to work from this list. hey, at least i tried, and i can thoroughly confirm that an athlon ii x2 220 will not post in one of these machines. keep rocking the mediasmarts, y'all! if anyone's curious, i've got mine running arch linux off a usb drive, with all 4 bays used for storage in linux software raid. works great but i wouldn't mind a bit more cpu power :P
