The EX470 and EX475 was shipped with the AMD Sempron 3400+ CPU. The P/N is SDD3400IAA3CN.

Here is the AMD link for that processor: http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCP ... spx?id=145

Since many people have upgraded their processors over the years you may find someone willing to part with one.

Thanks, I've been looking for a few hours trying to get the Part Number for the CPU. I have been having problems with my current set up of the 470, my router would lock up after large downloads to the server. I have maxed the fans and have just cleaned and added new thermal compound perhaps i had a bit to much on the cpu. Temps are now at 38 to 40 c. Next i will set the fans back to the default settings and see where the temps go. I'll look and ask around if anyone wants to part with there old stock CPU. I also need to update the bios, i have never updated the bios and need to look into this more.

Again thanks for your help.

John

There is no BIOS update available for your server. HP did ship them with two different BIOS one with an R2 and the other R3 as my memory recalls. There is a BIOS Modification on the site if you want to upgrade to a Duel Core Processor but there are few duel core processors that are known to work with the EX470 but to upgrade to one of those you would need to modify your BIOS. Other then that running Stock BIOS with the Stock Processor is not an issue.

I am not sure how your controling the fan speed but there is an ADD-IN available on this site for controlling the fan speed and works well with HP v1 and v3 Software Versions.
