Hi thinking of upgrading my EX470 to a 485 and wondered how easy is it to transfer all of my drives from the 470 to the 480 without losing all 8tb of data on the drives.

Impossible or easy ?

Thanks in advance

Here is a guide that Alex wrote on how to migrate from you EX47x to an EX48x using a Server Recovery. Just understand that if your currently using a multibay eSATA Port Multiplier with your EX470 it will not fully work as the EX48x eSATA port will only support 1 device as its not Port Multiplier Aware. So if this applies to you then you will need to get a multipbay USB Port Multiplier before you perform the recovery because WHS will need to see all your storage pool drives.

Apologies for bumping an old thread and also not passing on my thanks for the replies recevied. I've managed to source an upgraded EX475 and want to transfer all the files from my 470 across. Should I just use the same guide as posted earlier on for doing this to the 485 or is there something different I should do to ensure I dont lose any data ?

Am I also able to utilise the 470 in harmony with the 475 if I just use the 470 as additional storage with all the main server software etc.. on the 475 ?

Thanks in advance for any tips
