I just added a Mac to my home environment...

Instead of loading the HP Mediasmart client software on my Mac, I decided to just connect the server as network attached storage...

I use Time Machine to a local external hard drive for back ups...

Is there anything that I am missing by not loading up the Mac client?

Seems to work fine for me...but I wanted to poll this community and tap into the collective knowledge (and opinions) here...

Thanks!

From what I understand, since the HP mac connector is quite an old piece of software and has not been updated, it will not backup a mac with LION or later. Best to search google for the Apple OS version.
