I have just given up on the McAfee. I deleted it, and everything has been great since. Since I have antivirus on all networked computers, and don't use the remote acess I really don't see why I need the McAfee software.
You may hve difficulty deleting because according to various sites, the McAfee is trying to review all files. If you are persistent, and go to the settings, add on's you will eventually get the opportunity to delete.
This McAfee software looks like it was designed as a mickey mouse enterprise solution for small businesses with many users. I don't think it will work very well in that enviornment. However, it certainly doesn't work for the home network user.
HP and McAfee really didn't think this through and don't provide any helpful kind of support.
