I just installed this great add-in. Thanks!

Just wondering though, why isn't this thread in the WHS Add-in forum? 14 stickied threads in the Software forum is pretty annoying. There seems to be several stickied add-in threads that could go there.

Just my $.02

Thanks,
Alan

We started stickying them here before the Add-Ins forum existed, and so convention has prevailed. A reorganization and cleanup of stickies is planned for the future.

Unfortunately no, HP moved the fan controls from the OS to the BIOS where it's more difficult to modify.

Alex,

Nosey question here.

Do you think that you will be able to fix the MSS Fan Control Add-IN before the 3.0 disks start arriving?

My BE 2300 gets a little warmer than I like it to get without optimized defaults turned on.

Note sure if I'll get to it before disks arrive, I don't have an upgraded EX47x at the moment so that'll add a few hours. I've got a version that "works", but it behaves funky according to the initial tester so I need to spend some time with it myself.
It's on my list...

Thanks for the reply.

Probably a good thing that HP is being a little slow shipping out the disks to me.

I believe, I will wait until you are able to post a fix before, doing the actual install then.

@ Cavediver ~ The problem with the MSS Fan Control Add-In is that its not compatable with the HP 3.0 update so Yakusa is working on trying to get it functional for the 3.0.

@ Cbick ~ I pulled an EX470 Motherboard out of storage and was looking at the heatsinc to see if it would be possible to install 2 40mm fans on either side of the heat sinc but offset. One to pull air accross it the other to push air and connect them to the available fan header on the motherbord. Problem is securing them in place. I know they will fit because I have seen others place a fan on the Northbridge Heat Sink to pull air accross it even though it was against the flats of the heat sink. The other possible location might be to attach them to the front grill. I will check to see if there is enough room to do this tomorrow and if so I will install 2 40mm fans and then let my EX470 with the BE2300 run a while without the FAN Control Add-In running to see what impact to the processor temp is seen.

I will let you know what I come up with....

Hi Alex,

Any progress for updating this great add-in for MSS 3.0 software? All of the regsitry settings still seem to be present from the following thread so it should still be possible to get the add-in to work.

As I mentioned previously, I've got a version that works, but it's not a very user friendly experience due to the changed HP services, plus I want the same version to be usable on both 1.3 and 3.0 based EX475s. When it's done I'll be posting here, considering very few people have the 3.0 upgrade it's not been a high priority for me.

Looks like the US customers got shipping notices today, so I'll try to get this sorted over the weekend.

Sorry, should have said that some US customers were getting shipping notices, probably the first few that ordered.
