So My server just started acting weird last night.
Only one week old.
It started acting really slow, and having problems to log into the console or using Remote Desktop.
copying was super super slow.
When I mean slow, I mean Snails Pace as if your processor was pegged at 100% due to some app crashing and holding it hostage
I rebooted the MSS with no luck.
I installed LightsOuts a few days ago and was getting errors that the lightsOut.dll was blocking login onto the console.
Everything seemed to be running 40x slower then normal with all kinds of crazy error messages.
I called HP and after 2 hours on the phone of trying everything under the sun, including removing LightsOut, we decided to do a ServerRecovery.
After I did that My MSS would just blink blue like it's starting up and never start fully.
I tried recovering 4 more times with the same results.
I yanked my 3 drives and planned on taking it back to Fry's to Exchange and just for kicks turned it on again. It started!
I popped the drives back in and Added them. (knowing that it would erase them)
I noticed that my 400GB drive seemed to take 30x time longer to setup and remove, so I'm thinking that drive might have been the cause of all my problems.
Too bad the MSS had no way to detect that is the reason my performance was being dragged down if it even was the reason.
I guess I'll never really know, just hope it doesn't happen again.
Brutal day!!
