Hello,
I have had a HSS EX470 in it's box for over 10 years never used.
Finally tonight was going to sell it and thought I could rebuild it and use it

Currently have a CPU on order:
AMD Athlon X2 BE-2300 1.9GHz Energy Efficient 45W AM2 CPU ADH2300IAA5DO

And hope it will support a 4GB DDR2 DIMM I have on hand.

Right now I have factory reset the HSS successfully to its out-of-box factory state with the HP Server Recovery Image (via windows 10)

**I was required to install Windows 7 x86 to give me the ability complete the initial setup of the server as the Setup disc/image would not work on any x64 - this allows for setup (username / password) to be able to access the server via RDP

Also, have a VGA Adapter for the HSS as well.

My concern is because of how old this server is, I cannot find a proper BIOS update for the X2 CPUs with all the files and instructions to do this process
UPDATE:
posted below

My plan:
To deploy this HSS and toss a few 6TB disk in it and run on unix - I am not sure of the max supported disk at this time using another OS

See original post <@ymboc> - viewtopic.php?p=10271&highlight=#p10271

Here was the process I attempted based on another post:
This was performed on the HSS via RDP

ZIPs that are required:
Winflash192.zip
Cbrom182.zip
SS21S10J.zip
m601b18.zip
M601B_18.zip

01. Copy files to external storage
02. plug external storage into USB port on HSS
03. Copy contents to HSS Desktop

Root folder files of desktop\bios\
Winflash192 <folder>
CBROM182.exe
M601B_18.BIN

Files created during process
FILE_BUF.BIN
ACPITBL.BIN
AGESACPU.ROM
BIOS.rom
CPU_FILE.STV
original.tmp

Original BIOS Backup File
awdbios.bak (rename to .bin) to re-flash if needed

04. Extract WinFlash.zip
05. Run WinFlash.exe
06. Select > File > Save Old Bios (save to desktop\bios\)
-- Select 'Backup' Button
-- allow BackUp BIOS to File to complete

File created - awdbios.bin -> original bios file

07. Select > File > Exit (to Exit WinFlash)
08. Copy awdbios.bin back to your external storage (for safe keeping)
09. Type "copy awdbios.bin awdbios.bak" to make a copy of your bios.
**RECOMMENDED** making an additional backup to another computer, Hotmail or Gmail etc. (copy the .bak to external storage)

10. Type "cbrom182 awdbios.bin /d" To display the bios contents

file created = FILE_BUF.BIN

11. Type "cbrom182 SS21S10J.BIN /acpitbl extract" and press enter when prompted for the file name.
file created = ACPITBL.BIN

12. Type "cbrom182 M601B_18.BIN /GV3 extract" and press enter when prompted for the file name.
file created = AGESACPU.ROM

13. Type "cbrom182 awdbios.bin /acpitbl ACPITBL.BIN"
file created = bios.rom & CPU_FILE.STV

14. Type "cbrom182 awdbios.bin /GV3 AGESACPU.ROM"
file created = original.tmp

15. Type "cbrom182 awdbios.bin /d" To display the bios contents after the changes you've made.

16 . Close the Command Prompt Window. The hard part is done.

Note: if you saved your bios file <awdbios.bin> to \desktop\bios\ - copy the modified <awdbios.bin> to \desktop\bios\Winflash192\

17. Run Winflash
-> Check "Update ALL" (Which will check other things for you) and Check "Clear CMOS" (For Good Measure).
-> Go to File>Update BIOS.
-> Specify the New BIOS File \desktop\bios\WinFlash\
-> Select awdbios.bin
-> Select Open
-> Select Update
** This will update the BIOS**
-> You will be prompted to reboot - Select > Yes
** Reboot the HP Home Server**

Don't forget:
External Storage - Copy awdbios.bin and awdbios.bak to a safe place and/or email it to yourself so you have a backup

Currently waiting on X2 CPU and to install 4GB RAM
Once confirmed, I plan to attempt to boot this device to another Linux based OS to make a proper NAS out of it.

I will update as I make progress
