Hey guys and gals. I've been reading a little bit about replacing my main drive and wanted to confirm if the following is correct. My drives go as follows:
1.5GB
1.5GB
1.5GB
2.0GB

I want to replace my main drive with a 2GB drive and I do have duplication turned on (though I can't seem to find where to confirm this outside of looking at the individual folders). So would I be able to simply turn off my EX475, place a new drive inside of it, power it on and run through the setup/recovery screen (not System Restore) and I should be set?

Yes and No... You see where duplication is [on] or [off] on the [Shared Folders] tab in the console.
Need to ask a few questions:
1) Do you have the 3 cd / disks that came with the server and maybe even the upgraded Black cd's. You will need the disks to do the recovery.
2)Do you have backups of your data? 99.9% of the time a [recovery] (not factory reset) goes ok, but a backup of you data is a good thing just in case something goes bad..
3) Do you have the Free addin SMART installed so you can verify all the drives are good before starting, as if a drive is having problems, it can mess up a recovery. http://dojonorthsoftware.net/HomeServerSMARTClassic.html#all
4) You will be doing a recovery (not factory reset) with the disks that came with it and all the drives need to be in and/or attached. Yes.

You power the server down / pull the bottom drive (the system drive) and put the newly formatted know good/new drive.
Them you attach the server and the pc your going to recover it with together with cat5, run the server recovery cd, it will tell you what to do after that.
Don't be in a hurry and good luck.

P.S. If you do have the Black upgraded disks, remember that some of them were mislabeled.

The "Black" disks he is referring to are the 3.0 software update disks that HP made available for a period of time.

Keep in mind that the Client PC backup database is NOT duplicated, so you may lose some or all of your backups.
